The numbers are in, and this year’s Learn United annual school drive proved very successful boasting
supply totals similar to pre-COVID years.
United Way of Union County concluded their school supply drive last week and supplies were sorted by
the staff and youth at Central Ohio Youth Center on Rt. 4. Over 50 boxes were distributed to 25 local
businesses and organizations to collect supplies for the upcoming school year.
“COYC generously donates their space and time to take on this huge sorting process so that supplies can
be divvied up among all four school districts in our service area; Marysville, Fairbanks, North Union and
Jonathan Alder,” Corinne Bix, UWUC Director, said.
Jennifer Hiller, COYC Lead Teacher, led this year’s sort and reported some of the highlights: 49,920 pieces
of notebook paper; 10,469 pencils; 177 boxes of tissue; 2,200 glue sticks/bottles; and 730 highlighters.
Overall individual supply totals were up by at least 20% and in the case of some double or triple from
what was collected just last year.
Large donations came from Honda Marysville, Memorial Health, and Richwood Bank. Special thanks to all
of our public collection sites throughout the county. All supplies were distributed to area school districts.
For those in need of supplies contact your school guidance counselor.
