The United Way of Union County’s annual Learn United - Stuff the Bus event wrapped up on Tuesday with a day long bus trip picking up school supplies collected by 24 local businesses and organizations.
Marysville Schools provided the school bus and a bus driver to assist in the pickup. Collected supplies included 45,360 pieces of notebook paper, 12,028 crayons, 7,633 pencils, 2,136 pens, 244 pairs of scissors, 193 three-ring binders, 183 boxes of tissues, 80 book bags, 30 calculators and much more.
“When compared to last year, supplies collected were up by about 20%,” Corinne Bix, Campaign Director, said, “Honda of America Manufacturing became a
collection site for us in 2018 and gave this year’s drive a real boost.”
Supplies were sorted at the Central Ohio Youth Center and distributed to Marysville, Fairbanks, North Union and Jonathan Alder schools. Those in need of supplies should contact their building guidance counselor.
