The United Way of Union County is pleased to welcome Daily Needs Assistance Community Center of Plain City as their newest partner agency.
“We have had the opportunity to visit DNA over the past few years and we are thrilled with what they are doing,”
Dave Gleeson, United Way of Union County Board Chair, said, “we are excited to be a part of their positive impact.”
The non-profit community center is a faith-based organization and offers both community and family services.
Community Services include: community meals; the Kids Closet free store for gently used clothes; and the Plain City Free Clinic providing
medical and pharmaceutical care to the medically uninsured, on a limited income, and living in the Jonathan Alder or Fairbanks school districts.
Family based programming includes the LIFT Learning and Mentoring Center for 5-8th graders to
meet and expand learning opportunities. The H.U.G. ministry (Heads Up, Girlfriend) is the center’s pregnancy resource and the C.P.R. (Coaching + Resources) initiative focuses on
providing tools for individuals and families to succeed financially, relationally and physically.
This is the second year in a row that the United Way of Union County Board has provided a grant towards DNA’s Summer Lunch Program. In May,
The United Way of Union County Board granted $5500 for the DNA lunch program. The board granted $4000 to the program in 2017.
“The Summer Lunch Program was created to feed kids in our community who are most likely to experience food insecurity during the summer break. This program enables us to invest in
kids who are dealing with challenging issues in their families such as addiction, incarceration, immigration, and poverty,” Tamara Reed, DNA Executive Director explains, “Our goal is to provide
an inspired day camp experience that will connect them to the idea that they have innate talents, that work is satisfying, and that they can write a future story for
a life with purpose. Our program has an entrepreneurial component with a kid-run restaurant called PossibliliTEAS believing that what they can see they can step into.”
The Summer Lunch program runs June 18 – July 13, Monday – Friday from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and is open to kids ages Kindergarten through sixth grade.
Transportation is provided to and from Green Meadows, Suburban, and Canaan Mobile Parks as well as North Avenue Apartments. The grant from The United Way of Union County will fully fund transportation costs for
the duration of the program.

funded Partner agency,” Shari Marsh, United Way of Union County Operations Director, said, “Since their beginning I have watched them develop into an organization
that has a heart for people in need in the Plain City area. They have created some much needed programs and services and we hope our partnership only furthers their reach.”
