The Winter Olympics may be over but this nonprofit seminar will raise the bar and challenge local nonprofit groups to “go for the Gold” in areas of their accountability.
The United Way of Union County, in partnership with Holbrook & Manter CPAs, will be hosting a free charitable, nonprofit training seminar featuring Dean Pulliam from the Central Ohio Better Business Bureau. The event is scheduled for Wednesday April 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Union Rural Electric in Marysville.
Pulliam is the Better Business Bureau’s Charity Accountability Analyst and is charged with rebuilding the Better Business Bureau’s Charity Review Program. There are twenty BBB Standards for Charity Accountability that will be covered during this seminar.
The Better Business Bureau believes that a local charity reporting program benefits the entire community. With such a program, the BBB can respond to donors at all levels, including private individuals, small businesses, corporate giving officials, community foundations and major grant making institutions. Equally important, the Charity Review Program provides a well-recognized means for local charitable organizations to be accountable to donors and potential donors in their community. The presence of a strong charity-monitoring program provides both donor and charity with well-defined benchmark practices in the areas of governance, fundraising, finances and program services.
The United Way of Union County has met the BBB’s twenty Standards for Charity Accountability for the past eleven years. While the process takes a bit of time, it is worth the effort to meet this level of accountability as an assurance to our donors and community.
