Members of United Way’s Pillar Society gathered Thursday for a Wine Tasting
Reception and Social Hour at the Eldchrist Winery in Plain City. The event, presented
by Honda Federal Credit Union, Scotts Miracle-Gro, and Eldchrist Winery, served as a
thank you event for our top donors. United Way volunteers have established a way to
recognize the top donors of the organization, creating the Pillar Society for individuals giving at leadership levels.
In 1996, the first year there was a Pillar Society event, there were 49 Pillars. Today, there are over 300, who
combined to give over $270,000 this year. With many giving through the United Way campaign at work, they also
leveraged additional matching corporate dollars for United Way. That means
Pillar Society members directly account for roughly 37% of the money raised this year!
