Don‘t miss out on Union County‘s original and largest Online Auction. United Way‘s 4th annual web-based fundraiser is underway. Through 9:00 p.m. on Monday October 26, area residents have a chance to bid on more than 200 items posted on United Way‘s eBay-like event at www.unitedwayofunioncounty.org. Buyers will find collectibles, artwork, and autographed items that have been donated by area individuals and out-of-town celebrities. But the majority of items have been given by area businesses to put a spotlight on what they sell. Items range in value from $5 to $1,300, all starting out at bargain prices. Officials hope the auction will provide a $10,000 to $15,000 boost to United Way‘s annual campaign, which to date has raised 36% of the $900,000 it‘s trying to collect this fall for programs and services used by 16,000 Union County residents. “Whether it‘s a night on the town, sports collectibles, or professional services such as photography or massage therapy, you can probably find it here,” said Dave Bezusko, United Way‘s Campaign & PR Director. “Local businesses have been very generous in donating products this year and we have them showcased for all to see.” There are Ohio State Buckeyes items, including autographs from football and basketball legends, bobbleheads, and apparel. Beautiful furniture, wall hangings, and items for the home are posted. Close-to-home getaways for the family are there for the taking. Gift cards to area restaurants and golf courses also appear on the auction. Participating businesses receive online exposure with their posted items as well as additional free advertising options if they give items of increased value. Bezusko says that more than 220 bidders participated in last year‘s auction. “And while 95 percent of the bidders are local, we have shipped items from California to Maine to winning bidders around the country,” he said. “There are so many interesting items in the auction and it truly gives browsers from coast to coast an idea of the varied products and services made here in Union County,” Bezusko said.
