For Immediate Release
August 4, 2003

For the second year in a row, a gently used furniture drive will take place in conjunction with the United Way of Union County's Annual Community Care Day. A furniture collection drive is being organized by the Union County Health Department Help Me Grow Division, the Union County Family YMCA, and The Ohio State University Extension Office.

The Furniture Collection Drive will take place Tuesday, September 9 in the parking lot of the Union County Family YMCA (1150 Charles Lane in Marysville) from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Gently used items being collected include beds, lamps, mattresses, microwaves, tables, TV’s, sofas, washers, dryers, chairs, stoves, sets of dishes, and refrigerators. Items that cannot be accepted include clothing, linens, individual dishes, food, and silverware. If you are unable to deliver your gently used furniture but would still like donate it, please call The Ohio State University Extension office at 644-8117 and arrangements can be made to pick up your furniture on that day. Donated items will be delivered to Material Assistance Providers, Central Ohio’s only free furniture bank.

The
United Way of Union County’s 7th Annual Community Care Day, presented by Scotts and Honda, is scheduled for Tuesday September 9. Community Care Day not only signals the kickoff to the United Way’s annual fund raising campaign, but symbolizes the true spirit of volunteerism. Participants will help senior citizens do odd jobs around the house, clean area parks, aid social service agencies for a day, and more.
