Union County to receive more than $11,000 from

$11,463 in federal money is on its way to Union County to supplement emergency food and shelter programs. Union County has been awarded this help under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board program. A local board will determine how the funds awarded to Union County will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area. The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program. The local board consists of representatives from the American Red Cross, Catholic Social Services, Community Action Organization, Home Health Care/Senior Link, Marysville Area Ministerial Association, Marysville Food Pantry, Milford Center Food Pantry, Plain City Food Pantry, Richwood Emergency Assistance Program, The Salvation Army, Union County Commissioners, Union County Department of Job and Family Services, Union County Special Needs Council, United Way of Union County, and Veterans Service Commission and Office. Last year, the Local Board distributed $5,709.98 to provide rent or mortgage assistance to 15 families in Union County and $3,322.77 to help 17 households pay utility bills. Union County was selected to receive the funds by a National Board that is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and consists of representatives from The Salvation Army; American Red Cross; United Jewish Communities; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.; and United Way of America.
