The skies cleared just in time for the Game Day 5K on Saturday September 13. A stormy dawn gave way to a humid, but brightening environment at the Glacier Ridge Metro Park. About 220 participants registered for the event. 180 completed the 3.1 mile course, and United Way of Union County cleared nearly $4,000 on the event.

David Mealy of Westerville crosses the finish line first. With a time of 15:32, he wins the Game Day 5K.

More than 200 participants braved the early morning elements and registered for the Game Day 5K. That included more than 65 people who walked up on race day itself.

“The Coach,” Steve Biro, the famous Woody Hayes impersonator, mingled with participants.
What a great event we had on Saturday! I had debated on participating, but when the weather cleared Saturday morning, I couldn't make any excuses! I ran in last year's inaugural race and had a great time, so deciding on this year's was a no-brainer! Who can pass up Der Dutchman? They did a great job (again) with the catering. I will always keep this race on my calendar each year as a must!
