10th Annual Community Care Day May 16, 2006
On May 16, we joined forces with Honda of America, Invensys Controls, and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company for our 10th annual Community Care Day. More than 180 volunteers completed 95 social service projects on a single day. But more importantly, they put smiles on the faces of their neighbors and good feelings in their hearts. Volunteers from the Union County Personal Needs Pantry conducted a drive outside the Marysville Super Wal-Mart, Kroger, K-Mart, and Big Lots on Community Care Day. Window washing remains a staple project of Community Care Day, as evidenced by this volunteer’s work from Invensys Controls. Funding for the project was provided by the Village of Plain City and the United Way of Union County. Volunteers helped to sort a large food donation at Turning Point. Volunteers from Home Depot construct benches for the Union County Junior Football League’s Junior Panthers in Milford Center. Volunteers from the Union County Engineer’s Office had fun on Community Care Day. Volunteers from the Union County Council on Aging worked to scrub down the shelterhouse at the Richwood Civic Center. A volunteer from the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission works on landscaping at the Richwood Civic Center. Volunteers assembled 1,800 File of Life packets on Community Care Day. Volunteers from the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission look over their supplies before heading out on a project. Community Care Day volunteers had to catch their breakfast, as Chris Cakes Flying Flapjacks sent pancakes flying through the air. Even young volunteers got in the act, helping to clean up the Catholic Community Center following Community Care Day festivities.
