What is Community Care Day?
Since 1997, United Way has been bringing neighbors together to improve lives on “Community Care Day.” This volunteer
event symbolizes the true spirit of Union County as participants help elderly residents do spring cleaning projects
around the house, landscape area parks, conduct food drives, and more.
Last year,
more than 250 volunteers from different workplaces completed 145 social service projects on a single day. They
painted, washed windows, weeded gardens, built a wheelchair ramp, conducted a drive for the Personal Needs Pantry,
prepared a future youth football field site, and more. But more importantly, they put smiles on the faces of their
neighbors and good feelings in their hearts. CLICK

This year, Honda of America, Invensys Controls, Memorial Hospital of Union County, and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company
have partnered with us to make an even greater impact! We hope you and your group can plan to join us too. Let’s
make our 12th annual Community Care Day the best yet! |

Some of the best experiences people have are visiting with senior citizens who they are helping
that day. Others like the camaraderie that comes with working together. |

“I came away with such a warm, fuzzy feeling because of the gracious people we were able to
make happy,” said one volunteer from Honda of America. “Count me in next year.” |
