What it does:
The Salvation Army has established a Union County Homeless Prevention Program to assist families and individuals in danger of losing their housing, having utilities shut off, or needing assistance to re-enter permanent housing.  Families can receive limited financial assistance in addition to short term case management, referral to other community resources, and more
.

Fast Facts: 

  • Program was founded in October 2003 when the United Way of Union County became its first local funder, awarded The Salvation Army a grant of $11,500.
  • Is the direct result of two years of collaboration among members of the Union County Housing Coalition to provide a coordinated approach to housing assistance in Union County.
  • Based on a successful program The Salvation Army operates in Delaware County.
  • Served 210 households consisting of 614 individuals last year.
