It's tough to beat the tasty treats you'll find at a Richwood Civic
Center bake sale.
What it does:
Provides a wide variety of services for the benefit of the rapidly growing senior population in Richwood and northern
Union County. Encourages participation and provides assistance to allow seniors to live independently in
their own homes and improve the quality of life in this primarily rural community.
Serves as a gathering place for the Community Meals lunches provided by the Memorial Meals Program. In cooperation
with the Union County Agency Transportation Service (UCATS), provides transportation for individuals over the age
of 60 to medical appointments, shopping, and banking. Coordinates social outings, informational programs,
and entertainment for area seniors.

Serves more than 520 residents each year.
The Richwood Community Apartments, attached to the Civic Center, house only 10% of the residents
who use the services provided by the Center. The other 90% live throughout northern Union County.
Programming and meeting space is not restricted to senior citizens. The Civic Center is
available to any resident ages 18 and up.
Recently hired a part-time Senior Advocate, Connie Carter, to assist those seniors with
various questions. For instance, if someone receives something in the mail and they don’t know what it’s about,
they can make a 30-minute appointment with Connie on Thursday afternoons.
Houses the Richwood Emergency Assistance Food Pantry (REAP), which is open from 10:00 a.m.
to Noon on Fridays.
