We are thrilled to announced that Marysville resident Mike Rose will serve as the Chair of the 2014 United Way campaign. Rose is the Controller at Union Rural Electric.
“I have been very blessed with a wonderful family and a wonderful career, and I can’t think of any better way to show my gratitude than to give back to the community.”
Not many people have done as much giving as Rose, who has been a leader within United Way for nine years. In addition to serving a year as President of the Board, he’s put his financial background to use as the Treasurer. He’s also chaired the Community Investment Committee, which determines how to allocate all donor dollars. He last served as Campaign Chair in 2007, when he helped us exceed goal by raising a then-record of $813,470.
“I have been privileged to see United Way from many different aspects,” Rose said. “I think of the word ‘stewardship.’ United Way makes every effort to use donor dollars wisely and in a fashion that brings the most bang for the buck. From a Board perspective, the word that comes to mind is ‘transparency.’ The staff and board are very aware of our fiduciary duty to run the organization in the best possible manner.”
Mike also finds time at Trinity Lutheran Church and School to work as Youth Group Advisor, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and produce distribution volunteer. He’s a coach for Upward Basketball and for his daughter’s softball team. His family also delivers for the Community Thanksgiving Day Meal.
“I began volunteering with United Way in 2005 and this lit my fire for community service,” Rose said. “I feel very strongly about the mindset of ‘paying forward.’
